Team Overview
The Restore Democracy team is one of ten separate issue teams that are all part of Indivisible Santa Cruz County. Our team is working to restore and improve our democracy via three key commitments:
A supportive community committed to collective action
We share relevant information, ideas, and concerns
We work together respectfully and democratically to develop our skills and expand our positive impact
Constructive near-term action to save us from autocracy
Promote 2026 electoral results that restore our democracy
Develop alliances to help build a fundamentally better democracy
Longer-term movement-building for a new and improved democracy
We believe America needs a democracy that serves the people, not Big Money
We believe this requires a broad-based movement to reinvent the Democratic Party
We meet on the first and third Monday evenings of each month, both in person and via Zoom. Our current focus is on advancing democracy via the 2026 elections, but our longer-term interest is in reclaiming our government for the people in 2029.
We view the current regime as an opportunistic infection in a democratic system that has been in poor health and severely failing us for multiple decades. We need to beat back this infection, but our longer-term well-being depends critically on our ability to free our democracy from the anti-democratic dominance of wealthy individuals and corporations.
Our current democracy is rigged to funnel wealth and power to those at the top. Instead, we need and deserve a democracy that delivers a better quality of life for all Americans. This is why we are committed not only to restoring our democracy but to substantially improving it.
