Our Vision

We believe that many Americans voted for Donald Trump as the only available alternative to business as usual in a political system that is clearly no longer serving the public interest.  Unfortunately, Trump has proven that he is not the solution.  He has ignored the plight of ordinary Americans and has focused primarily on increasing his personal wealth and power.  He has diverted billions of dollars into his own pockets and those of his family and friends; he has wasted billions more on a devastating and senseless war; and he has gone to unprecedented extremes in punishing and intimidating anyone who dares oppose him, routinely lying to the American public, and undermining the rule of law.

We believe that this situation presents Americans with a unique opportunity to take a harder look at what has gone wrong in our country and to come together to repair what’s broken.  We can begin by putting a stop to Trump’s megalomania, but what we really need to address is the deeper dysfunction in our political system.  We still have a democracy, but it’s one in which the desires and needs of the people are being routinely overridden by the special interests of corporations and the wealthy.  This is why income inequality has skyrocketed, and working Americans have been left to fend for themselves.

The good news is that we can fix this, but it is going to take a sustained, coordinated, and carefully considered effort from all of us.  We need to stop arguing about left vs. right and recognize that the real conflict is top vs. the rest of us.  We need to go beyond voting every few years for the lesser of two evils and start working together to promote new and improved democratic processes designed to serve the interests of regular Americans rather than those of Big Money.  Most importantly, we need to begin building the collective understanding and people power that are essential to reclaiming our country.  Right now, the deck is stacked against us, and it will remain so, no matter who the President is, until we commit to establishing a true government of the people, for the people.
